Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri was an Indian actress who has gained fame for her role in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun and Beta Saajan. The actress was initially famous for her role in Tezaab from the 1980s where she co-starred with an established actor Anil Koopor. Her next role was in Dil where she was on screen with Aamir. Early on, as a teenager in Mumbai's middle-class, she began to learn how to dance. At the age of 15 began acting, but struggled as many of her films were flops. She eventually found success and was one of the leading actresses in the Indian film industry. Following her wedding ceremony, she took a short time off from her acting career until she returned. Recenty, she had a prominent role as a character in Gulaab Gang. The film focused on the struggles of women across India. Dixit has been nominated for 15 Filmfare Awards. Of these she's received 8. The actress was also honoured with her Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian honour in India. Her work in the field of social service is well-known.
